Most digital cameras have autofocus systems to simplify focussing for the photographer but unfortunately they don’t always behave in the way the photographer wants. They might fail to lock on to the subject at all while the lens mechanism twists and turns in an action known as ‘hunting’. Alternatively they might simply focus on the wrong place. The article in the magazine explains alternative focussing techniques.
The picture below is an example where the camera might focus on the middle of the train in the centre of the picture rather than the off-centre locomotive. The article in the magazine explains how to maintain good focus in difficult situations like this one.
