This is the final part of a mini-series where a Photoguide reader, Brian, had taken a set of photographs on a sunny day and those showing the shadow side of the train had a white sky instead of the expected blue. Previous articles described techniques for taking ‘shadow side’ pictures that kept the sky blue and were applicable to photographs of both static and moving trains.
This month’s article describes a powerful technique for retaining good colour and detail throughout a ‘shadow side’ view but which can only be used in a scene where there is little or no movement.
