Sometimes it’s necessary to take a sunny day photograph on the shadow side of the train, in which case the shadows are usually deep and unpleasant to the eye. Processing on the computer can improve the visible detail and the article in the printed magazine explains how this is done. Below one of the ‘Before’ and ‘After’ examples are shown. Admittedly these are not, strictly speaking, directly comparable as one comes from a Jpeg image while the other comes from the raw image taken at the same time.
